Yaacov Amar Rothstein is a rabbi, engineer, and international speaker. He is the director of the platform Filosofía Judía (Jewish Philosophy), one of the world’s leading Spanish-language sources on Judaism. Through this platform, he has reached millions of people with content covering the study of the Torah through the Noahide Laws, Zionism, and other topics related to Israel. His approach is distinguished by an intellectual, academic, and systematic exposition that integrates classical sources, historical analysis, and contemporary reflection.
Rabbinic and Academic Background
Rabbi Yaacov Amar Rothstein received his rabbinic ordination (semicha) from the Av Beit Din (Head of the Rabbinical Court) of Beitar Illit. For over a decade, he has been a student of Rabbi Oury Amos Cherki, and has complemented his training at institutions such as Hochmat HaEmunah, Netiv Aryeh, and Pirchei Shoshanim. In 2025, he was appointed a member of the Council of the World Noahide Center (Brit Olam), and has served as a rabbi on the Beit Din (Rabbinical Court) responsible for approving Noahide declarations from individuals from various countries.
He is also a chemical engineer, having graduated from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, where he is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Jewish Thought, focusing his research on the topic of the Bnei Noah (Noahides). Additionally, he graduated with honors (Cum Laude) from the Rothberg International School at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and studied biomechanics at Xaverian University in Colombia.
This dual training (rabbinic, philosophical, and scientific) has allowed him to approach modern thought not only from the Jewish tradition but also from the perspectives of critical analysis and academic rigor.
Political and Scientific Experience
In the scientific field, he was a process engineer at the multinational company ICL, and a founding member of a COVID-19 genetic analysis laboratory in cooperation with Tel Aviv University. There, he implemented RNA fragment isolation methodologies, contributing significantly to pandemic containment efforts.
Rabbi Yaacov Amar Rothstein served as a delegate to the World Zionist Congress and a member of the Zionist General Council (HaVa’ad HaPoel HaTzioni, the main legislative body of the World Zionist Organization), where he was responsible for evaluating budgets designated for Jewish communities in Europe, America, and the Middle East. He also collaborated as a strategic advisor for organizations supporting lone soldiers in Israel.
In the field of public outreach, he has published articles in some of the most influential Spanish-language Jewish media outlets and has given talks on the Middle East conflict at universities, institutions, and Jewish communities in more than a dozen countries.
Military Service in an Elite Unit of the Israel Defense Forces
He currently serves as a reservist with the rank of sergeant major in a classified combat unit of the Israel Defense Forces. He has actively participated in the “Swords of Iron” and “Protective Edge” wars, and in various confidential military operations. For his performance, he was awarded the Award for Excellence by the Commander of the IDF Infantry and Paratroopers Corps.
Early Life and Formative Years
Born into an Orthodox Sephardic Jewish family. His father was a dean and rector in engineering, and his mother, an entrepreneur and active leader in the Jewish community. At age 15, he was a contestant in the International Bible Contest (Hidon HaTanakh), the world’s most prestigious competition of biblical knowledge. In his youth, he was the general coordinator of educational leaders (madrichim) in the Hanoar Hatzioni youth movement in Colombia. Later, he lived on Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu, where he worked applying high-tech methods in agriculture. He is also a musician and has recorded two albums available on Spotify with his band, Misophonic.
He has received the Academic Excellence Award from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the National Award for Excellence from the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration of the State of Israel, in recognition of his outstanding social and community work.
